FieldMotion or Chippie: what a small Irish crew pays, and for how long

FieldMotion is sold in licences, three at least, on a 36-month contract, and most teams are live within four to six weeks, by its own count. Chippie starts free, month to month, and you send your first quote the day you sign up. Which suits you depends on how big the operation is and who prices the work.

Key takeaways

  1. FieldMotion lists Core at €50, Plus at €55 and Pro at €60 a month per user licence, verified 6 November 2026. Its page does not say whether VAT is included.
  2. Every FieldMotion plan needs at least 3 licences on a 36-month contract: €150 a month on Core, €5,400 over the term, as listed.
  3. Chippie is free for one user up to 20 jobs a month. Pro is €15 a month for 2 users and Team €25 for 4, including VAT, with no contract.
  4. On FieldMotion the standard process is for quotes to be priced and sent from the office. In Chippie you price and send the quote from your phone on site.
  5. FieldMotion carries stock, purchase orders and planned maintenance contracts for larger service firms. If that is your business, it is built for you.

What does FieldMotion cost a small crew?#

FieldMotion prices each user licence by the month, and every plan needs at least three of them on a 36-month contract. So the smallest Irish setup is three licences, whether one person uses them or three.

FieldMotion in EUR as listed on fieldmotion.com/pricing, verified 6 November 2026; the page does not say whether VAT is included
A licence, a month Three licences, a month Three licences, 36 months
Core €50 €150 €5,400
Plus €55 €165 €5,940
Pro €60 €180 €6,480

Plus is the plan with the Xero and QuickBooks sync, timesheets and purchase orders. Setup costs nothing extra: FieldMotion includes onboarding, data migration and training, and says the 36-month term "reflects the investment we make in your onboarding".

Three people, the first year
FieldMotion Core, 3 licences at €50 for 12 months €1,800
FieldMotion Plus, 3 licences at €55 for 12 months €1,980
Chippie Team, up to 4 people, paid monthly €300
Chippie Team, paid yearly €250

FieldMotion as listed on its pricing page, verified 6 November 2026, with 24 more months to run on the contract after the first year. Chippie prices include VAT; paid yearly is ten months for twelve. Check fieldmotion.com/pricing before you budget.

A three-year contract, or month to month#

FieldMotion's pricing page is plain about the terms: "All plans require a minimum of 3 user licences on a 36-month contract", and "You can't downgrade to a lower plan during the contract term." You can add licences or move up a plan during the contract. FieldMotion says most teams are live within four to six weeks.

Chippie has no contract. You sign up, add your logo and VAT number, and send a quote the same day; there is nothing to configure and no training to sit through. Pay monthly or yearly, move between plans when the crew changes, and cancel from the app. A sole trader stays on the free plan while under 20 jobs a month.

Who prices the quote: the office, or you on site#

FieldMotion describes its quoting in its own words: "The standard process is for the survey to flow to the office, where the quote is reviewed, priced, and sent." In some setups engineers can build simple quotes in the field, and invoicing, it says, is reviewed and sent from the office for most teams. That suits a firm with surveyors in the field and an office that prices and dispatches.

In a small trade business the person on site is usually the person who prices the job. In Chippie you open a quote on your phone before you leave the customer's drive, type or dictate the line items, and send it. The customer accepts online, the job is scheduled, and when it is done the invoice is already there to send, with Irish VAT at 23% or 13.5% and your VAT number on it.

When is FieldMotion the better choice?#

  • You run planned maintenance contracts across many sites. FieldMotion's industry pages are fire and security, HVAC, industrial doors, pest control, waste and facilities maintenance, with contracts, assets and custom forms in Core.
  • Your office prices the work and dispatches the crews. Its quoting flow runs through the office, and Pro adds an AI scheduler that plans the routes.
  • You buy and hold stock. Purchase orders, goods received and returned notes and stock tracking are on Plus.
  • Your books are in QuickBooks. FieldMotion syncs with QuickBooks Online as well as Xero.

For a service firm with an office, several crews and contracts to keep, FieldMotion's onboarding and three-year term buy a system set up around that business.

When is Chippie the better choice?#

  • You are a sole trader or a crew of up to about six, and you price the work yourself on site.
  • You do not want to pay for three licences, or sign for three years.
  • You want to start today, on your phone, with nothing to learn.
  • You want a free plan while you are under 20 jobs a month, and €25 a month including VAT for 4 people when you grow.
