What is Chippie?

The easy job management app for trades, on the go. Here are the plain facts: who it is for, what it does today, where it works and what it costs.

Chippie in one paragraph#

Chippie is a job management app for small and medium trade businesses: quotes, jobs and invoices, run from the phone. It is built for trade businesses in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Ireland, from a sole trader to a crew, such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, builders and arborists. You build a quote on site, the client accepts it from a link, Chippie makes the job and a draft invoice from it, and you send the invoice when the work is done. It runs on iPhone, Android and the web. It is free for up to 20 jobs a month, and a new business starts with a 14-day Pro trial.

Who is Chippie for?#

Small and medium trade and field-service businesses: a sole operator, a tradie and the partner who does the paperwork, or a crew with someone in the office. Electricians, plumbers, carpenters, builders, arborists, landscapers and other trades use it. It suits a business that wants quotes and invoices out quickly from the phone. A business that runs its week on job costing, timesheets or purchase orders is better served by a bigger platform today.

What does Chippie do?#

Chippie covers a job from the first quote to the paid invoice. You build an itemised quote on your phone and send it as a PDF with a link. The client accepts from the link, with no app or account, and Chippie makes the job and a draft invoice from the agreed amounts. When the job is done you send the invoice from site and record the payment against it when the money arrives.

What Chippie does today:

  • Quotes with line items for labour, materials and more, sent as a PDF with a link the client accepts from.
  • Jobs, made from an accepted quote or added directly, with their status in one list.
  • A calendar for the week, with jobs you drag into place.
  • Invoices made from the finished job, sent from the phone.
  • GST in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, or VAT in the UK and Ireland, worked out on every line.
  • Clients with their full history of quotes, jobs and invoices.
  • Every address a client has, each with its own contacts.
  • Site photos and files attached to the job.
  • Recurring jobs that repeat on the schedule you set.
  • Dictation, so you can speak a description instead of typing it.
  • Changes made on site show up for the rest of the business straight away.
  • Saved jobs and quotes can be opened and edited with no signal, and upload when signal returns.
  • Safe work method statements built from a hazard list and signed on site.
  • An asset register with each unit on site and its service history.
  • A document vault for licences and insurance.
  • Automatic reminders on unpaid invoices (Pro and Team).
  • Two-way sync with Xero (Pro and Team).
  • Staff scheduling, to put each person on a job (Team).
  • A notification when a client accepts a quote.
  • Export of all your records and files, any time, on every plan.
  • Chip AI, an assistant in the app that answers questions about your jobs, clients, quotes and invoices. It never invents a price, it can only use the tools it is given, and every change it suggests waits for your tap.
  • A connection for Claude or ChatGPT, so you can ask your own AI assistant about your business. Letting it create and send things needs Pro.

The quote and invoice app page walks through the job from quote to invoice.

Does Chippie work on Android?#

Yes. Chippie is on Google Play, and it is the same full app as on iPhone, where it is on the App Store. On a computer it runs in the web browser. Your jobs, quotes and invoices are the same on every device.

Chippie on Google Play and Chippie on the App Store.

Does Chippie work without signal?#

Partly. Jobs and quotes your phone has already saved can be opened and edited with no signal, and the changes upload when signal returns. Creating and sending a new quote, and starting, completing or cancelling a job, still need a connection.

Does Chippie work with Xero?#

Yes. On Pro and Team, Chippie syncs with Xero both ways: clients, invoices and payments go to Xero, and invoices paid or voided in Xero come back to Chippie. Chippie does not do the books itself.

The Xero integration page lists what syncs.

Does Chippie work with ChatGPT or Claude?#

Yes. Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Chippie and ask your own AI assistant about your business in plain words: who owes you money, what is on tomorrow, which quotes are still waiting on a reply. It answers from your Chippie records and sees only what your role in the business lets you see. Every plan can connect an assistant to read; letting it create quotes, invoices and bookings needs Pro, and you choose what it may do when you connect. Chippie also has its own assistant built in, Chip AI.

Connect Claude or ChatGPT has the steps and what each permission allows.

Which countries does Chippie support?#

Chippie is built for Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Each has prices in its own currency, and quotes and invoices carry the local tax, set up for you: GST in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, and VAT in the UK and Ireland. It also works in the United States and Canada, where you set your own sales tax or GST/HST rate, and in English anywhere else.

Who makes Chippie?#

A family trade business in Newcastle, New South Wales. Caleb and his father Elliott are qualified carpenters who run a tree-felling business, Treesmith, on Chippie every day. Caleb's brother Jeremiah, a software engineer, builds it. Chippie has been going since 2024.

How does Chippie compare with other trade apps?#

Side-by-side pages set Chippie against the apps tradies most often weigh it against, with each one's prices and the date they were checked.
