Free job management software in Australia: every free plan compared (October 2026)

Key takeaways

  1. The most generous free job management plans in Australia in October 2026 are ServiceM8 and Leadhand at 30 jobs a month, then Chippie at 20 jobs with quoting and invoicing.

The most generous free job management plans in Australia in October 2026 are ServiceM8 and Leadhand at 30 jobs a month, then Chippie at 20 jobs with quoting and invoicing. Jobbit caps free users at 5 jobs a month, and OneBookPlus at 10 invoices and 5 quotes.

Most job management software in Australia is sold as a 14-day trial, so a plan that stays free is worth knowing about. Eleven products offer one, and they cap different things: jobs, invoices, users or features. This page compares every free plan we could verify, with the number that runs out first, as at 22 October 2026.

How we checked these#

We build Chippie, so discount for bias before you trust the order. Every figure below comes from the vendor's own pricing or free-plan page, read on 22 October 2026, and linked in the sources at the bottom. Where a page does not say something, we say it does not say. Vendors change free plans without notice, so check the cap on the vendor's page before you commit your business to one.

Tradify, Fergus, Jobber, Ascora, AroFlo and simPRO have no permanent free plan in October 2026. Their entry point is a trial or a demo.

ServiceM8 has the most complete free plan#

ServiceM8's free plan is the fullest free job management plan for one person. It gives one user 30 new quotes or work orders a month, with scheduling, quoting, invoicing, client history, online bookings and accounting integrations. Each card payment taken through ServiceM8 earns an extra job credit, and you can keep creating jobs for 7 days past the limit before you are asked to upgrade.

The catches are small but real. Text messages cost 10 cents each, and building your own forms needs a paid plan. It runs on iPhone and Android. If you are a sole trader doing 30 jobs a month or fewer and want the most features without paying, this is the plan to beat.

Leadhand and Chippie sit close behind#

Leadhand gives one user 30 jobs a month on native iPhone and Android apps. Its pricing page says quotes, forms, photos and invoices are free once a job card exists, though it does not list quoting and invoicing as separate free features. Its first paid step is $19 a month for 50 jobs and unlimited users, which is the cheapest crew upgrade on this page.

Chippie's free plan gives one user 20 jobs and 20 quotes a month, with the whole quote-to-invoice workflow, scheduling and client management, on iPhone, Android and any browser. You can open and edit jobs and quotes with no signal, and they upload when it returns. There is no card needed. The honest comparison is that 20 is fewer than 30, and Xero sync starts on Pro at $25 a month including 2 users (all prices AUD, inc GST). Chippie suits you if you want one app that goes from quote to paid invoice and works on any phone.

Jobbit and OneBookPlus are the tightest free plans#

Jobbit's free plan covers 5 clients, 5 jobs, 5 quotes and 5 invoices a month, with 10 AI chat messages. That suits a side business with a handful of jobs. Its first paid plan is Starter at $29.99 a month, which lifts quotes, invoices and clients to unlimited and jobs to 50.

OneBookPlus's free plan allows unlimited jobs and one-off bookings, but only 10 invoices and 5 quotes a month, with accounting and BAS reports included. Its Android access is through the web app, because it has no native Android app yet. Card and bank-debit payments carry a fee of up to 2.5% on top of Stripe's, and the company describes itself as in early access. It is the one to look at if built-in bookkeeping matters more than quoting volume.

Invoice-only free plans#

Square Invoices and QuoteMate are free but do not schedule jobs. Square Invoices gives unlimited invoices, recurring invoices, estimates and contracts for $0 a month, and charges 2.2% on online card payments and 1.6% in person. QuoteMate gives unlimited quotes and invoices, and takes 1.7% of each payout plus Square's processing fee on the free plan.

Both suit a tradie who runs jobs from a diary or a whiteboard and only wants paperwork to look professional. Neither tracks jobs, so a business that needs a calendar will outgrow them.

Which free plan fits your month#

The right plan depends on the first number you would hit. Match your month to the cap, not to the feature list.

  • Up to 20 jobs, one phone, quote to invoice: Chippie, ServiceM8 or Leadhand all fit. Pick on the app you like using.

  • 21 to 30 jobs: ServiceM8 or Leadhand. Chippie's free plan stops at 20 jobs.

  • Under 10 invoices, and you want the books done as well: OneBookPlus.

  • Under 5 jobs a month: Jobbit's free plan is enough.

  • Paperwork only, no scheduling: Square Invoices or QuoteMate.

  • A crew, not a sole trader: Zoho FSM allows up to 20 users on its free plan, with a 30-appointment cap.

If you pass the cap, create a free account with Chippie and compare it against your current plan on your own jobs. For the whole market, including paid tools, see our ranking of job management software in Australia.
