Chippie works with the AI assistant you already use. Connect Claude or ChatGPT once and you can ask it about your own business in plain words: who owes you money, what is on tomorrow, which quotes are still waiting on a reply. It answers from your Chippie records.
- It acts as you. The assistant sees what your role in the business lets you see, in the one business you choose.
- You choose what it may do. Reading is the default. Creating things and emailing clients are separate permissions you tick.
- You can disconnect at any time from Settings in Chippie.
Connect Claude
- In Claude, open Settings and go to Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Name it Chippie and enter this URL:
https://mcp.chippieapp.com/mcp - Click Add, then Connect. Claude opens Chippie's sign-in page.
- Sign in to Chippie, pick the business to connect, choose what Claude may do, and click Allow.
On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner first adds the connector under Admin settings > Connectors; each member then connects it from their own Settings > Connectors.
Connect ChatGPT
ChatGPT connects through its developer mode, which depends on your ChatGPT plan, and OpenAI changes these menus often. If the labels below do not match what you see, OpenAI's help article "Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT" has the current steps.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings and turn on Developer mode (under the connectors or apps settings, in Advanced).
- Create a new connector (or app). Name it Chippie and enter the server URL
https://mcp.chippieapp.com/mcp, with OAuth as the authentication. - ChatGPT opens Chippie's sign-in page. Sign in, pick the business, choose what ChatGPT may do, and click Allow.
- In a new chat, turn on the Chippie connector from the tools menu.
What each permission means
When you connect, Chippie shows three permissions. Reading is always on; the other two are yours to tick.
| Permission | What the assistant can do | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| See your clients, quotes, jobs, invoices and schedule | Look things up and answer questions | Every plan |
| Create and change drafts, notes, clients and bookings | Draft quotes and invoices, add clients and job notes, book and move visits, accept a quote and turn it into a job | Pro |
| Email your clients and record payments | Send an invoice email, follow up a quote, mark an invoice paid | Pro |
Your assistant asks you before each change, and always before anything that reaches a client or your books. What it creates shows up in Chippie straight away, and the activity on each record says it was you, through the assistant (for example "Sam Lee via Claude").
Things to ask
- "Who owes me money, and how late are they?"
- "What's on my schedule tomorrow?"
- "Which quotes are still waiting on a reply?"
- "How much did I invoice each month this year?"
Claude and ChatGPT also show two ready-made requests from Chippie: a morning briefing (today's schedule, overdue invoices and quotes waiting on a reply) and chase overdue invoices (go through overdue invoices and re-send the ones you approve).
Disconnect
In Chippie, open Settings, go to Integrations, and find Connected apps. Click Disconnect next to the assistant. It loses access straight away; connect again whenever you like. An owner or admin can also disconnect an assistant a team member connected.
