Invoice2go pricing, and the invoice cap nobody mentions

What does Invoice2go cost?#

Invoice2go publishes three plans in US dollars. Its pricing page has a currency selector that includes AUD, but it publishes no Australian price list and says nothing about GST, so the figures below stay in the currency the page served them in.

Read the invoice column twice. Those caps are per year. Starter's 30 a year is about two and a half invoices a month, and Professional's 100 a year is about eight. If you invoice every job, that is the number that decides your plan, not the price.

What does a year actually cost?#

The comparison people usually want is a year of each, for one person who invoices every job they do. Fifteen invoices a month is 180 a year, so Starter and Professional are both out on caps before price comes into it.

That is not a like-for-like row and it should not be read as one. Invoice2go Premium gives you recurring invoices and phone support that Chippie does not have. What it does not give you is the job the invoice came from.

Which features actually differ?#

The row that matters is the third one. Invoice2go makes a document. Chippie tracks the work the document is about, which is the whole difference between an invoicing app and a job app, and it is the reason to move or to stay put.

When should you stay on Invoice2go?#

More often than a comparison page usually admits.

• You send a handful of invoices a month and nothing else. Starter at US$7.99 covers 30 a year. If that is your year, you do not need a job app and nothing here should talk you into one.
• You need recurring invoices. They sit on Premium. Chippie has recurring jobs, not recurring invoices.
• You want phone support. Premium lists it. Chippie does not offer phone support.
• You are on MYOB. Invoice2go lists MYOB on Professional and Premium. Chippie connects to Xero only.

When have you outgrown an invoice app?#

There are four moments, and most tradies hit them in this order.

• You start quoting before you invoice, and the quote needs to become the invoice without retyping it.
• There is a job in between the two, with a date, a site and photos, and it currently lives in your head.
• You want to look up a client and see everything you have done for them, not search your invoice list for their name.
• A second person needs a login, because you are answering questions about paperwork from the ute.
